Shane J. Stroud, Legal Advisor

Shane J. Stroud is a partner at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, and his practice focuses on all aspects of employee benefits and executive compensation, including those related to mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, initial public offerings, private equity and leveraged buyout transactions. Mr. Stroud routinely advises clients on excessive compensation, golden parachute and deferred compensation issues. He also advises companies on the design and drafting of equity-based and incentive compensation plans and the implementation and design of qualified and non-qualified employee benefit plans (including health and welfare plans, 401k plans, employee stock ownership plans and supplemental executive retirement plans). Mr. Stroud has extensive experience representing both executives and employers with respect to the negotiation and drafting of executive employment and severance agreements.

Raphaële Chappe is an Open Society Fellow working on new forms of ownership, governance, entrepreneurship, and financialization to fight economic inequality. She is an economist whose research interests include the link between financial markets and wealth inequality, the distribution of risk in society, and the political economy of money and debt. She has practiced as a tax attorney for eight years in the financial services industry, is a core faculty at The Brooklyn Institute and also teaches at NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
